This area
receives the runoff from the Wales Stream, which is meltwater from nearby
glaciers.
Antarctic
macrofauna are much less diverse than their warmer-water cousins.
Here, the only visible macrofauna are Adamussium colbecki
(the Antarctic scallop) and one species of brittle star. However,
meiofauna (like foraminifera) are very diverse and abundant.
